Compounding For All Your Pregnancy / Postpartum Needs

There are few things as exciting as welcoming a new baby into the family. It's an amazing time that will undoubtedly be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be challenging. New parents, especially first-time parents, must undergo a massive adjustment period as they get used to their new additions' unique needs, preference, and schedule. Expecting women and new babies/moms can also experience a variety of health challenges that can place additional strain on the situation. Our compounding pharmacy at the Lake of the Ozarks is here to help ease the transition as much as we can.

Services For Expecting Mothers

Growing a baby is no small task, and pregnancy can put a lot of strain on a mother's body. Nutrition, exercise, and rest are crucial elements to maintaining a healthy pregnancy, but they aren't the only pieces. Despite their best efforts, many women experience nausea, stiffness, swelling, and other common pregnancy complaints. If you or someone you know has been suffering from morning sickness, we offer ginger-based compounds in the form of both a lollipop and an oral effervescent powder to provide natural nausea relief. If you've been dealing with other issues, our Lake of the Ozarks massage therapist offers techniques to relieve muscle tension and swelling.

Services For New Babies

All parents wish the best for their new babies, but even the most attentive parenting techniques can't prevent everything. Babies commonly deal with a variety of health issues, from colic to fevers to diaper rash. If your baby is sick, we may be able to compound a gentle medication to help her get better. We also offer an excellent diaper rash cream to help combat this common ailment. In our signature Cholestyramine 5%/Zinc Oxide Diaper Rash Cream, the Cholestyramine acts as a bile acid sequestrant that neutralizes bile, fecal acids, and urine to bring relief to the patient. Simultaneously, Zinc Oxide protects and soothes the skin.

Services For New Moms

Sore nipples are a common complaint against new breastfeeding mothers. The causes for this symptom can be vast and varied, and some new moms feel overwhelmed at the prospect of trying multiple treatments until they find the one that works for them. The Lime in the Coconut Compounding Pharmacy offers a convenient solution with our All-Purpose Nipple Cream. It's called "all-purpose" for a reason - it is designed to benefit nursing mothers no matter what the cause of their nipple pain is.

Other OB/GYN Services

We are proud to offer these services to new and expecting mothers, but our women's health services don't stop there. We offer several other compounds to help women with a wide variety of other challenges, including vaginal infections, vaginal dryness, and reduced libido. For women going through menopause or dealing with other hormonal imbalances, we offer top-quality bioidentical hormone replacement therapy at the Lake of the Ozarks.

No matter what chapter of your life you may be in - whether you are expecting, welcoming a new baby into the family, or going through menopause - our Missouri compounding pharmacy is here to assist in any way we can. Amazing Health Benefits Of Therapeutic Massage

When is the last time you treated yourself to a professional massage?

Many people think of massage therapy as a special treat they should only get once or twice per year. Rather than a normal part of healthcare, massage is commonly viewed as a luxury. While it's true that a professional massage can often be considered a special treat, massage therapy is so much more than that. Professional massage therapy offers several distinct health benefits that should not be underestimated. In honor of EveryBody Deserves A Massage Week (July 10-16, 2016), we're dedicating this blog to some of the unique health benefits offered by our massage therapy services at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Reduce Stress
Most health experts agree that a significant percentage of diseases and illnesses are stress-related. By serving as a powerful stress-reliever, massage can greatly reduce your chances of catching various illnesses and improve your overall health.

Improve Skin Health
Many people talk frequently about the importance of maintaining the health of your inner organs, but what about your outermost organ? In addition to being the only one on the outside, the skin is actually the largest organ on the body. Massage can help improve your skin health by conditioning and hydrating it.

Alleviate Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common ailments in our society. Whether by sitting too many hours a day, carrying loads that are too heavy, holding onto stress, or any number of other possibilities, many people carry a significant amount of tension in their backs. Massage can help relieve this tension, thus helping to alleviate pain.

Condition Muscles
What challenges are your muscles facing? Different life circumstances can lead to tight, weak, or atrophied muscles. An experienced massage therapist should be able to identify which challenge your muscles are facing and apply the appropriate techniques to promote healing.

Ease Pregnancy Aches & Pains
Even the easiest pregnancy can be hard on a woman's body. Growing another human being requires a great deal of energy, and the increased weight, decreased space in the abdomen, and other factors all come with their own unique stressors. Massage therapy can help ease some of these aches and pains.

Reduce Cramping / Muscle Spasms
Overworked muscles tend to complain of their overuse by cramping, spasming, or twitching. Massage therapy can offer the therapeutic touch your muscles need to calm down and avoid these unpleasant convulsions.

Promote Tissue Regeneration
If our body does not get the nutritional and therapeutic support it needs, dead and unhealthy tissue may not regenerate. Scar tissue is just one example of the skin health problems that may arise as a result. By promoting tissue regeneration, massage therapy may help reduce the formation of scar tissue and other skin challenges, such as stretch marks.

Release Endorphins
Endorphins are hormones our bodies produce that make us feel happy. Getting a massage can actually cause your body to release more endorphins, leading to a greater sense of happiness, connectedness, and contentment.

And So Much More...
The benefits of massage therapy do not stop there. In addition to these valuable health benefits, massage therapy also contributes to:

  • Improved sleep quality
  • Improved circulation
  • Reduced fatigue
  • Improved concentration
  • Decreased anxiety
  • Decreased headaches
  • Improved digestion

What Are You Waiting For?
Considering the vast, varied, and phenomenal health benefits massage therapy offers, we are proud to offer such a valuable service to our valued clients. If you are interested in scheduling your professional massage at the Lake of the Ozarks, call our massage line directly at 573-964-6786 ext. 303. We look forward to hearing from you!

9 Surprising Facts About Women's Health

"He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything." - Arabian Proverb

"The greatest wealth is health." - Virgil

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." - Jim Rohn

"To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear." - Buddha

These are just a sampling of the practically endless supply of quotes about health. While the exact wording of each quote varies, the underlying message is the same: health is one of the most important and valuable things in life. With it, we can achieve practically anything. Without it, we can achieve very little.

Our compounding pharmacy at the Lake of the Ozarks is dedicated to helping our clients achieve optimum health and (in turn) happier, more productive lifestyles. We serve both male and female clients, but since the majority of our clients are women, we are dedicating this week's blog to further educating our clients about women's health. Below are a few interesting facts that you may not have known.

9 Facts About Women's Health

1.  Resistance training (any type of strength training, such as lifting weights) is a valuable way to prevent osteoporosis. Because fewer women participate in resistance training (and other bone-strengthening exercises), however, the National Osteoporosis Foundation reports that women make up 80% of Americans diagnosed with osteoporosis.

2.  Women are less likely than men to develop an addiction to nicotine. However, once the addiction has been established, women often have a harder time breaking it than men do.

3.  1 in 3 women have been sexually abused at some point in their lives. Most commonly, they suffer the violence at the hands of someone they know - a husband, a father, an uncle, etc. Survivors of sexual violence often experience a vast array of health consequences, including reproductive challenges, depression, and STDs.

4.  Women's bodies cannot process and break down alcohol as well as men's bodies do. As a result, women often have higher blood-alcohol content than men after drinking the same amount and experience stronger symptoms of intoxication.

5.  The three most common causes of death for women in the United States are heart disease, cancer, and stroke.

6.  Women are far more likely than men to develop an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia. According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, only 5-15% of people with anorexia or bulimia are men. Anorexia is a mental illness, not a physical one. However, it can cause serious health problems. According to the Eating Recovery Center, anorexia has a higher mortality rate than any other mental illness.

7.  Female hormones impact countless different arenas. Women's hormones affect weight, skin tone, complexion, menstrual cycle, libido, metabolism, pain intensity, and even dental health.

8.  Women are more likely than men to ignore symptoms that may help them identify health challenges early on.

9.  Emotions are closely linked to health. Women who are stressed are much more likely to develop health problems than women who are relaxed.
