Dental Compounding For Your Pearly Whites

We have talked a lot about how compounded medication can help relieve allergies, alleviate pain, and help reduce the symptoms associated with our bodies' natural aging processes, but the wonders of compounding don't stop there! This week, the team at The Lime in the Coconut is here to delve into another incredibly valuable service we offer: dental compounding at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Why Do Dentists Use Compounded Medication?

Dentists are medical professionals, just like doctors, and they require several different medications to ease the treatment of their patients. By working closely with our experienced compounding pharmacist in central Missouri, dentists can prescribe personalized medications to help patients with several different aspects of their oral health, including...
  • Dry Socket Treatments
  • Canker Sores
  • Gum Disease
  • Bad Breath
  • Pain Relief
  • Anxiety (fear of the dentist)
  • Teeth Whitening
  • And More

What Types Of Medication Do Dentists Require?

When most of us think of the dentist's office, we think of cleanings, routine cavity checks, and the occasional filling. However, dentists actually provide several different types of oral care to their patients, and these varied forms of care can require several different types of medication. As a few examples, we work with local dentists to provide...
  • Antibiotics
  • Adhesives
  • Topical Anesthetics
  • Sedatives
  • Plaque Removal Solutions
  • Mouth Washes
  • Analgesics
  • Bleaching Gels
  • Dry Socket Mixtures

How Do Dentists Deliver Medication To Their Patients?

Every patient is unique, and most people respond to different types of medication in different ways. We work diligently to help local dentists deliver the customized treatment each patient needs. If a patient suffers from nausea or having difficulty swallowing a pill, for example, we can make a topical gel or cream to allow the medication to absorb into the skin. If another patient is suffering from needle anxiety, we can create a topical anesthetic to allow for painless injections. Examples of the different dosage forms we can create include...
  • Rapidly Dissolving Tablets
  • Freezer Pops
  • Gels (Oral or Topical)
  • Capsules
  • Troches / Sublinguals
  • Mouth Rinses
  • Lipstick & Lip Balms
  • Lollipops
  • Mouth Washes
  • Oral & Topical Sprays
Don't forget that we can also add several different flavors to your dental medication, so you won't have to deal with any nasty flavors. Children and adults alike love having the option to flavor their medication!

The Lime Would Love To Assist With Your Dental Compounding Needs

The Lime in the Coconut Specialty Compounding Pharmacy has been working with dental compounding for eight and a half years, ever since Sharon first founded our pharmacy in 2007. If you find yourself in need of dental medication in the near future, we hope you will keep us in mind as your trusted resource. If you have any questions about dental compounding medication, don't hesitate to give us a call!

Help For Fido & Felix: Veterinary Compounding

If you've ever had a household pet, you know first-hand how much they truly become part of the family. Even though they may not speak the same language, your dogs and/or cats will likely find their own ways into your heart and before you know it, you won't be able to imagine your life without them.

With such an integral role to play in your family, it only makes sense that your furry friends deserve access to quality medicinal care. As dedicated animal lovers, all of us at the Lime in the Coconut Compounding Pharmacy are thrilled to be able to offer easy and fun solutions for your pets' medicinal needs.

Customizing Dosages To Each Pet

Just like humans, no two animals are alike. We offer compounded medication at the Lake of the Ozarks in order to ensure that each of our patients get the specific dosage they need for their unique situation, and we don't treat our animal patients any differently. Our experienced compounding pharmacist at the Lake of the Ozarks can design customized dosages to meet your pet's needs.

In some situations, veterinarians prescribe a certain medication for your pet that is on manufacturer backorder and not commercially available. In these situations, our talented pharmacy technicians can mix the active ingredients together to create a prescription for an otherwise unavailable (or discontinued) product.

Making Medication A Tasty Treat

If you have ever tried to feed a pill to your pet, you can probably attest to the fact that most animals hate taking medication. Your pet can't understand the medicinal benefits of the medication; all he knows is that it tastes nasty, and he definitely doesn't want to eat it!

At The Lime in the Coconut, we have found a solution to this age-old problem. Rather than having to hide the pill in cheese or peanut butter to try to sneak it into your pet's mouth, you can simply feed her medication that tastes exactly like one of her favorite treats! We can make your pet's medication taste like...
  • Chicken
  • Bacon
  • Beef
  • Shrimp
  • Peanut Butter
  • Banana
  • Fish
  • Salmon
  • Marshmallow
  • Tuna
With your pet's medication cleverly disguised as a tasty treat, feeding it to your dogs and cats will be a breeze.

Ask Us About Veterinary Compounding @ The Lime!

Your pet's health is very important to us, and we take great pride in providing quality medication for cats and dogs to help them lead happier, healthier lives. Just as we can customize the dosage forms for our human patients, we can also customize the dosage form for our veterinary compounds. For example, we can deliver the medication as a transdermal gel, chewable treat, flavored suspension, suppository, or a flavored capsule.

If you have a fur-baby at home in need of some medicine, give us a call to learn more about veterinary compounding at the Lake of the Ozarks. We would be honored to help you care for your beloved animals!
