Resolve To Be Healthier In 2017

Forget money, houses, and boats - your health is the most valuable asset you can have. Health is what allows you to pursue a career, raise a family, and chase any number of different dreams. Unfortunately, many people dedicate less time to their health than any other aspect of their lives.

As we move forward into the New Year, it's time to take a close look at some of our lifestyle patterns to identify where we have room for improvement. Since your health is so important, take this opportunity to develop some new habits to promote a healthy lifestyle in 2017. The Lime in the Coconut Compounding Pharmacy is here to help.

New Year's Resolutions To Be Healthier In 2017:

Don't Eat Sugary Foods More Than Twice A Week
Sugar is everywhere. Some sources are obvious (like desserts or donuts), but others are much harder to identify (like canned beans and ketchup). Its pervasiveness makes it next to impossible to eliminate entirely, but you can make progress by only eating obviously sugary foods (cookies, pies, cakes, etc) two days per week - or less!

Take A Walk Every Day
Walking is a great way to exercise and improve your health. Long walks are great, but short walks are beneficial too. Choose a small route near your home (such as your block or your street) to walk every single day, no matter what the weather. It may be hard to get motivated at first, but it will get easier once it becomes routine.

Do One Plank Every Morning
Planks are a great form of exercise because they work your core and your entire body. You don't have to do them for a long time to reap the benefits; holding them for just 30 or 60 seconds will make a big difference. Doing one every morning as soon as you wake up is a great way to set the tone for an active, productive day.

Take The Stairs
When was the last time you chose to take the stairs instead of the elevator? Elevators are easy and convenient, and we tend to jump onto them without giving it a second thought. However, riding elevators (and escalators, too) is contributing to our sedentary lifestyle and rising obesity levels. Combat this trend by resolving to take the stairs any time you can.

Drink Water
What did you have to drink today? Coffee when you first woke up, orange juice with breakfast, tea or soda with lunch... with so many enticing beverages at their disposal, many people in America drink a surprisingly little amount of water. However, these other beverages often have a lot of sugar that can make it hard to lose weight and stay healthy. By drinking water (or caffeine-free herbal tea) throughout the day instead, you can eliminate extra calories, stay hydrated, and be healthier.

Take A Probiotic Regularly
Many of us think of bacteria as a bad thing, but that's not entirely accurate. While there are certainly bad forms of bacteria, there are also a great many good forms. In fact, an estimated 400-500 of these good forms reside in your GI tract and are directly correlated to your overall health. Many people take antibiotics and use antibacterial hand soap without giving it a second thought, but what they may not realize is that these antibacterial products can reduce the number of good bacteria in their systems as well. By taking a probiotic, you can help rebuild your strains of healthy bacteria.
